Went thru this with my 01 last week.I removed the connections on both the module inside the cab and on the 4wd motor on the transfer case and cleaned and repluged them and they lit right up! As for the ABS I found my 3rd brake light to be burnt out and believe it or not this WILL trip and ABS...

Just about to post that I took the harnesses out of both the inside module and off the motor on the transfer case and cleaned all the connections real good and put it back together and all is working well for now! thanks everybody ,again!

Sorry if this has been covered but I could not find it in a Projects search! I have an 01St 4x4 and the dash light doesn't always come on when the 4wd is engaged. I tried it on some stones and it seems like the 4wd IS working any thoughts????? Thanks Tom

01 4x4 121k and runs like the day I got it. No leaks or drips anywhere and everything on it or in it works fine! Good luck!

I have the same truck and mine went out at 74k. When it did it also took out the PCM. I would spend the $75 or so and get it out . The Ford dealer told me the design was changed on these models 4 or 5 times. They also informed me that due to the number of problems with these ignition systems...

I have a 01 st and like the look I've seen on here of those that removed the roo racks. My question is .....After you remove the rack are there holes in the roof that need to be plugged somehow, or do you leave the "base rails " still on???? thanks tom

I had a ABS problem and could not find a code . It cleared up when I replace the burned out 3rd brake light bulb. I was told the ABS runs thru the 3RD brake light and it is a leading cause of a ABS light on in early 2000 model Ford trucks.

I paid $225 at my local Ford dealer to get the job done,the same was $525 when I was out of town in Ky. on a golf trip. If your ever on a trip and break down,remove your plate and tell them it's lost!
