    farewell

I hate to say it, but my ST just had so many issues, the latest of which being something beyond me mechanically and pretty expensive to have someone else fix - that, coupled with my commute going from 16 to 60 miles roundtrip was enough. So, sorry - didn't go with another ST. I've gone back to...

    farewell

Thanks to you folks that keep this site running and helpful through administration and/or posting valuable content. I traded my 05 4X4 XLT yesterday, but this site was very valuable through the year plus I owned it.

    Home Purchasing Advice

+1 for lead paint issue as mentioned by member above as you stated the home is pre-1978 lead paint ban. EPA lists much of NE as likely high radon levels - this is not a myth, but a serious health issue and could easily be a problem in your basement and/or surface level. I have personally...

    Fuel filter

Fuel filter was very tough to get out of my 05 4X4 XLT...tried several tools before I got the orange one pictured above which works; however, you still have to work it just right to get the inner ring to let go.

    starter motor

That's what my factory workshop manual says to do...move the damper...what manual isn't providing that direction?

    starter motor

PDF of removal procedures for 2004 posted in my library (only have access to 04/05 model years). I don't know if it will help with the '01...I'll leave it up for a few days.

    need diagnosis help (again)

Dave...sorry, I wasn't sure from your message, so are you saying the dealer did find that it was the wheel bearing that was at fault or did it actually turn out to be the brakes? thanks

    need diagnosis help (again)

l1tech...I'm nearly positive I have my steering directions correct in that the noise disappears turning left and appears running straight and turning right, mind you this is when making minor corrections on the interstate at cruising speed. A friend had mentioned, as you did, that this would...

    need diagnosis help (again)

Wife's 2004 Freestar is squealing from the passenger front wheel area. I thought it only made the noise once the wheel had warmed up. I found tonight that if I spin the wheel slowly by hand cold, it makes the high-pitched squeal only in the forward direction...spin a little faster and the...

    Good place to buy brakes/rotors?

I had to replace a warped stock front rotor a few thousand miles ago. I just got whatever Autozone carries...Duralast I think...cleaned the rust-preventative off, slapped it on, and haven't been disappointed so far.

Braking issues on cold start -

As you stated you didn't, it sounds like you need to bleed the lines.

    factory single cd player code

my factory single disc headunit stopped "recognizing" cds - it would pull them in, but wouldn't eject nor play them. i ran the self-test mode (holding down 3 and 6 buttons in am/fm mode), pushed the 1 button for the diagnostic mode, and then pressed the 2 button to retrieve the codes. the...

    Bad weather driving?

Other than chains, studs, and/or maybe a plow on the front end (often an effective brake, but I wouldn't make my ST suffer one), techniques will probably be the most helpful... Get off the gas and turn as shallowly as possible on slippery surfaces; if sliding, steer so as to point the front...

    Tonneau Locks

The only thing I might add: the project says to pry the cable barrel housing thing off with a screwdriver to pop it off and I believe my FWM says to "twist" it to get it to come up and off. If you can avoid prying against the lock housing itself, that would probably be a good thing. I think...

    Got first flat

I believe any effects to alignment, ride quality, tire wear, etc. should be pretty negligible running only one new tire; but if you're concerned, you might consider purchasing one more new tire and installing it across from but on the same axle as your already new tire. Then take the old but...

    Big Bear ( Slightly bloody)

 I'm confused...I thought the original post said this bear was hit by agricultural machinery...why was shooting animals even brought up?
