mikelem solved..alternator. sseriously... lol voltage regulator WAS in fact shot, but the armature was just as damaged as the regulator brushes so for $112 i picked up a new lifetime warranty alternator. got it in, and boom good to go. now i jsut have to replace my headlight and fog light bulbs.

partial update, we didnt order the GEM yet.. got it all hooked up at the shop w the ford scan tool and a couple other monitoring devices and starting tracking down all the issues created by this "problem". got the truck to finally start reporting back to the scan tool and found while the engine...

local performance shop owner i trust very much has suggested "GEM" (sp) module.. but i cant seem to locate mine behind the dash.. anyone know where its at?

ok, replaced the cab to frame ground strap. still no go.. i did locate the burnt smell..i recently installed two very bright LED lights for my dome lights.. they were completely melted, and the housing was a little discolored from the smoke. no melted wires to or from the dome lights, headlight...

i dont know how serious this guy is.. I offered to buy the rack, the divider, and the bed mat days ago and still havent heard anything from him... I'll be a little peeved if he skips over my offers and sells to somebody else.. just being honest..
