    Car Dealers!!!

For a while now, I have been thinking of trading the Trac for a Jeep, as I need the interior cargo room of an SUV. I stopped at one dealer who had a new '07 Liberty left on the lot, a loaded Limited model. It was "new" but actually ended up having 5000 miles as a demo, so I expected a decent...

    10% Ethanol?

I've only put Wal-Mart gas in my Trac once and the mileage was even worse than normal. I also heard some knocking. But where I live, I watch the prices and there is always at least one major station such as Exxon or Texaco that will match if not beat Wal Mart. So I really don't have any...

    Repairing plastic trim

That's what I thought...I really hate that stuff. I will never again buy a vehicle with it. It is too hard to keep clean and if it was painted, a couple of drops of touch up paint would do the trick.

    Repairing plastic trim

What is the best product to repair the plastic trim on the front bumper? I was cleaning the Trac today and noticed a scrape right below the right fog light. I think this probably happened when I let my mom drive the Trac the other day, as I am always careful about not getting too close to...

    I just noticed something

When I traded in my 2000 Explorer at 100K miles, the original brakes were still on it and working fine. So far, I have 50K on the Trac and the brakes work perfectly.

    Tire Cupping Poll

Luckily, I've never had the problem on my '05. I'm right at 50K and I have the original RT/S tires and they are still in great shape. That said, I don't really like them but I won't buy new ones until they wear out or cause trouble.

Did the math, thought I'd share

I do about 70 miles a day right now and it's starting to show it's effects after 2 years. I take good care of the Trac, but being on the road that much, it's hard to keep a vehicle as nice as you like. Once I get into a job where I don't have to drive on a daily basis, I will probably purchase...

    Rotating Tires

I rotate every 6000 miles and it is worth it. I never have uneven wear on my tires. And, my tire dealer will do it for free as long as I get my oil changed there. Works great....he even rotates the stock Goodyears for free which he does not carry.

    What psi are you running?

I run 32 front and 35 rear, just as the sticker says on my truck. I just have them adjusted at each tire rotation and check in between. It has worked really well, they've worn perfectly. The Trac has about 48K on it and there is still plenty of tread left on the original tires. The Good Year...

    Outside Temperature Display

I know, it could be worse but what gets me is instead of getting the base XLS I paid for the model with better features and then they don't work! I've tried to reset it but so far, no luck.

    Outside Temperature Display

My outside temperature display appears to be on the blink in my 05 XLT. It has always worked perfectly but today has been reading 69 or 70 degrees all afternoon when it is actually about 95. In fact, the lows around me haven't even been as low as 69-70 in at least 3 months. Any ideas on what...

    Can anyone run a carfax?

I found an Explorer that seems like too good of a deal to be true so I am just curious. 1FMZU63K75ZA20174 I might consider buying it if everything checks out.

Should I purchase a second vehicle?

I'm considering the same thing. In two years, I have put 47K on my Trac. The reason I didn't get a second vehicle earlier is I thought my job would be changing, but here I still am running up the miles. There are several good options and I think I could save money in the long run so I guess...

2001 Black Sport Trac Sale Price?

I was killing time looking at some cars today and one dealer had an 01 with 93,000 miles. Windshield was cracked and the front plastic bumper was cracked. Interior was not very clean...looked like it had been smoked in. The paint was in pretty good shape. They were asking $10,500 so your...

    GAS MILEAGE

Based on a mechanic's recommendation, I added some Lucas octane booster to a tank of gas recently and have been averaging 19 since then (mostly highway). Not bad...the best I've ever gotten was 21 and that was solid highway a couple of times. I have an 05 4X2 XLT with the 4.10 axle. The...

    Citgo

All the Citgos around me are now showing Texaco, Exxon, and Mobil. They have been changing a few at a time since last fall. The biggest Citgo in town just switched to Mobil last week and I noticed today they had dropped their prices 15 cents below anyone else. I guess they are trying to make...

    A good brand of tires

If you want something fairly low cost that looks nice and holds up good...Wild Spirit Radial MPT (Wild Country Radial APT in some areas.) I had two sets of these on my Explorer when I had it and easily got 60K per set and they weren't completely worn out. Excellent wet weather traction on...

    Chrysler announces LIFETIME powertrain warranty

I have been thinking for a year now about selling the Trac and getting a Liberty or Grand Cherokee. I may do so if I change jobs which may be soon. Looks like if I do anything, I've waited for a good time. I'm a good record keeper so I would always have receipts and all. Even if there is...

    Carfax needed

I don't mean to put anyone to trouble but if you have a Carfax subscription you're already paying for, I sure would appreciate you running one. 1J8HS48P17C526709 Thanks!
