    It's with heavy heart

I have to admit that its hard to part with something that has been a reliable part of your life for so long, but my Sport Trac is needed elsewhere. I complained in church to the pastor that we have too many vehicles, and we probably ought to get rid of one or two. Immediately one of the girls...

    How many miles?

Just noticed this when I was about to leave my mom's house and head home. New milestone, and heading for 500k!

    Seat cushion is dead

Well, after 15 years and 385,000 miles under my 260 lbs, the driver's side seat cushion in my Sport Trac is dead. It's been talking to me the past couple of weeks, but sitting in heavy traffic for two hours this morning really brought it home. Anyone know of a source for new seat padding?

    New addition to the family

I'm going to leave it alone for awhile until I feel my son can handle extra power. We all remember some of the stupid things we did when we got some serious horsepower. I rolled an 82 GT at 130 in my early 20s. Slowed me down quite a bit for, maybe, three months? Never rolled another car...

    New addition to the family

Had to do a deep clean. Previous owner had a cat, and my son and I are both allergic. Seats out, carpet out, scrub the carpet, foam clean the carpet, foam clean the seats, and put it all back. Now it smells better, and we don't get congested in it anymore. And we found about $5 in change...

    New addition to the family

Well, we have a new addition to the family. My son just turned 16, and needs a car. Another family member had a 2001 Mustang he was looking to part with, so we came to an agreement. So now my son is the proud owner of a bright green 2001 Mustang, v6 manual. It has power seats so I can fit...

THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANES ??? Check in please

Most of those badly affected by the storm were those near the flood zones. Anyone in a flood zone expected to get flooded, but we had a lot of people just outside the flood zones get flooded this time. I talked with several people that had been living in their houses for 30 years and never been...

THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANES ??? Check in please

I was affected mostly by missing work, and being very busy getting ready for the storm. We have always had problems with the back yard flooding and trying to get to the front yard through the house. I am opposed to this, and want the water to go around. I dug a trench to the street during...

    Aug 30 storm update

We are fine on the north side of Houston in Spring. I even made it to work on Tuesday and ever since. We have neighbors that weren't so lucky, though. One with 6 feet of water in the house and one with 7 feet. One street is almost solid with cast off appliances, sheetrock, furniture, and...

    Door handle problem

I had a similar problem recently. My driver's door was hard to open from outside. But a little spray grease on the latch fixed it right up. I was surprised, but glad I tried it before pulling the door apart.

    How many miles?

2003 with 372,000 miles as of this morning. My dependable daily driver. 35 mile commute each workday each way. Original engine and transmission. I lose track of what I have replaced and how many times. I do know I still have the original alternator, starter, steering rack and pump...

    new engine

371,000 miles on my original engine. Just changed the oil last week. No obvious noises.

    Windshield Washer T fitting

Auto parts stores have the tee fittings in stock. Sometimes it will be a stepped fitting to fit several different hose sizes with the same fitting. If that is the one you find, just snip off the smaller bits to allow full flow for your hose size.

    Weird thought

Oh, and blksn8k? The main thing here was a wider track so I could do a lift without increasing the rollover chances. That's what started this whole thought process, and I just ran with it. The Gen 2 is difficult to lift much without hitting the frame. And I already have a Gen 1.

    Weird thought

What is the optimum wheelbase to width ratio, anyway? I was talking with the Ford rep when the Raptor came out, and he said the width of the truck was optimized for the extended cab wheelbase, and they would have to widen it still further for a crew cab version. And now we have a crew cab...
