Transmission Trouble - O/D Off Light Flashing

I asked those same questions to my mechanic when i knew mine was going. He said there is no point in tearing it down and replacing one part because before long he would be back in it replacing another part. I just bought a ford rebuilt one and me and a buddy put it in. For me the rebuild was...

Bought a rebuilt one from ford and put it in this summer, rebuilt from ford was really expensive but overall it wasn't that hard to take out or put in.

    Main engine control wiring harness

All the wires connected to the tranny are combined into one harness including the oxygen sensor between the cats. Your best bet it to try and undo all 5 or 6 connections and get some slack that way. IIRC the wiring harness is actually quite long once it is all undone. That would be my plan of...

    1st Gen So far

140,000 Miles 2002 lifted with 285/75's exhaust, intake, tb and a tune. Taken out 2 rear ends and a trans so far and i think the timing chain is next. i do love my truck and yes she does get put to work quite hard sometimes. Also needs a drivers seat and a steering wheel. On its third set of...

    Sport Trac weight

Lucky mine is about 4950 with me, a passenger and an 1/8th of a tank of gas. I have seen it as high as 6200 but have probably had it loaded to 7000 before. That would also help explain why the stock shocks provided such an unstable ride.

Any one have the RT cat and Y-pipe with the Magnaflow Exhaust system ?

Todd, back in louisville '08 my truck had that exact set up on it. Sounded ok, it was a little less burbly than the flowmaster and a little more "ricey." i have since changed it after hearing yours and Victors tracs on the dyno. Sorry i can't be of anymore help. Mike

    Stock 4x4's

just bigger tires (cross terrains) stock height did awesome. Its about how you drive your 4x4 in situations as much as it is vehicle capability. [Broken External Image]:

    Living out of an SUV

I would put my vote in for a diesel Excursion if you can't do a small RV. I would get one with the 7.3 not the 6.0 from my experience the 6.0 would be in the shop more than on the road. The 7.3 would be reliable get decent milage and already has two huge batteries. Our work trucks (cube van) can...

Is there a problem with tailpipe submerged in water at boat launch?

Had a buddy stall out his 4 runner in a puddle well above tail pipe height:banghead: fired it right back up and got out of the puddle the truck smoked white until all the water was out of the pipe (atleast and hour) . That being said it ran fine, before and after being submerged and stalled. So...

    Ticking Noise

i have an 02 with 219000 kilometres with a similar noise i think its a pulley up front gone bad on mine but i wouldn't be surprised if a little valve rattle was present to (in mine). You can pull the belt and feel the pulley's for play or worn bearings. I have it on my list of things to do once...

    check engine

i have no experience with it but this is out of the FAQ's and could start you on the right path or at least narrow it down a little : Monitors the fuel vapor vacuum and pressure in the fuel tank. The system failure occurs when the EVAP running loss monitor detects excessive fuel tank vacuum...

Truck driver unaware of vehicle stuck on front bumper

Thats why i said assuming, i dont know first hand what the blind spots on cab-over trucks are like but the blind spots on regular cab trucks are huge and entire cars can and do easily disappear in the front blind spot. A couple of years ago a motorcyclist got run over from a stop light here...

Truck driver unaware of vehicle stuck on front bumper

I talked to a truck driver friend of mine who said, assuming the driver couldn't see the car he wouldn't have felt it.

    CD Error

It happened to me when i would try to eject a cd and it would get stuck, check to see there are no stuck cds part way out. If thats the case i used my driver licence of a debit/credit card to put pressure up of down on the cd so the mechanism can spit it out. then it worked great. Hope...
