    ST Owner No Longer

After 6 years and 79,000 miles I am saying goodbye to my 2004 ST. I want to thank all those on this site for helpful tips. Frankly, I regret ever buying this vehicle. I've had many of the same problems that others have had as noted in this forum (4x4 motor, power windows, transmission, etc.)...

    O/D OFF light flashing!!!!!!

At 78K my 2004 just developed the same problem. Let's face it: judging by other posts on this website the transmission in the ST is a piece of %#$. Let's stop making excuses for Ford.....

    Fate of Crown Victoria

It's true - Ford feels that the 500 (renamed back to the Tarsus) fits the full size segment. Another dumb idea...

    4x4 Module

Big D - the light comes on and I hear the clicking sound. However, it is a crap shoot if I get it to engage in 4 wheel drive. I am a volunteer fire fighter and got stuck on the way to a call last week in the snow because I was in 2 wheel drive. When the ST goes into 4 it is great but...

    4x4 Module

Todd Z - dump question - is this a view from under the ST on the front passenger side?

    4x4 Module

I understand that many members advise tapping the 4x4 engagement module when the ST doesn't engage in 4 wheel drive (a common problem). I know this has been asked before but where is the 4x4 motor? Is it near the oil filter and do I reach it by getting under the ST?

    4X4 Auto?

4x4 auto can be used in any condition - 4 wheel drive will engage whenever a slippery surface is detected. While it is fine to keep the ST in 4x4 auto at all times it is better to use 2 wheel drive (in dry conditions) for better gas mileage and less wear and tear. It is also better to engage...

anyone ever have a vehicle shipped to a new location?

If you really care about your car pay for a service that puts your vehicle on a flat-bed. When I got out of college I drove three vehicles cross country for those auto delivery services. You get free travel and a car you can beat up in exchange for getting the vehicle delivered in a set...

    Independent Suspension

Just look at the lack of group clearance of Independent Suspension vs. Solid Axle and you'll see why it is not suitable for off-roading.

    4X4 Stearing

It is perfectly normal - as this the ST has a PART TIME 4x4 system. The tightness is your front and rear tires pushing and pulling your ST at the same time. It should only be used when the pavement can "give", i.e. snow, mud, dirt, etc or your differential will fail. I would not use it in...

    O7 ST

Dale. To answer your question - the AWD system on the Ridgeline is primarily front wheel drive with power transferred to the rear as necessary. It is ok for slippery roads but is not good for off-road or deep snow. You can lock the differential but I think the speed limit is 15MPH. The...

    satellite radio... our opinion

It all depends on your musical, news and sports taste. I have XM since I like baseball and XM carries all MLB games.

    4dw Motor

Coastiejoe, Thanks for the reply - dumb question for you: where is the transfer case? Do I follow the drive train foward from the differential?

    4dw Motor

Can anyone please tell me where the 4wd engagement motor is? I've heard many of you advise whacking it with a mallet to get it engaged but I am not sure where the motor is. THANKS!
  15. N

Well, it wasn't the 4wd module... UPDATE!

I have had the same problem - it was my 4wd motor. Sometimes it engaged, sometimes it did not. I insisted the dealer replaced mine. So far it works but everytime it is forecasted to snow I test the motor. You gotta love it - you buy a new truck, realize that the suspension system is awful...

Any FF's interested in helping Katrina efforts

My department in New Jersey will be staffing the large city departments in Newark and Jersey City to backfill those members who go to New Orleans. Tommy - if you live in an area with a volunteer fire department please head down to your local fire station or town hall for an application. We...

    Gas price in your state

Amen Joey. I wonder if those folks blaming Bush will give him credit when gas prices go down after this crisis.
