    Alignment

I can't find a shop which will do the alignment on my '04 with shims, they all say I need a camber kit. I'm tempted to buy a kit and install it myself and then take it in for an alignment. Does anybody have suggestions on that idea? I'd rather find a shop to align it with shims, but no luck yet.

'04 Trac front alignment? Is the shop trying to trick me??

Evans Tire on Convoy in San Diego had a "free alignment check" offer. See attached. They insisted that I need a "$240 camber kit" and after they install it, they will align the vehicle ($99). I tried to tell them that an '04 is not supposed to need a kit. The printout they gave me (attached)...

Someone sideswiped my white '04 Trac, paint stains

I ended up heating paint w/hair dryer; spraying w/WD-40 and letting soak; rubbing horizontally w/Mr. Clean Magic Eraser; washing; waxing. Worked. Still need to work on the tire, might try some tire bug and tar remover. Plastic rock guard needs a little more work too. Thanks to all who offered...

Someone sideswiped my white '04 Trac, paint stains

I've tried washing with a nylon brush, no results, their blue and white paint won't come off my rear driver's side quarter panel (and left rear tire). Any suggestions as to how I can safely get this paint off? I think he'd disguised his vehicle, it appeared to be spray painted. Thanks.

    Alignment shop in San Diego?

What year (and production date) is your Trac?

    Alignment

Hi Todd, Original owner of a 2004 Trac XLT, production date August 2003. Hope pix show relevant details, but in person I see cams, which are not "engaged" or doing anything. I don't know if they're OEM, b/c it's possible a few years after I bought the truck I may have taken it for an alignment...

    Alignment shop in San Diego?

Places I've looked so far in San Diego charge alignment fees of $60, $85, and $90 (I've only checked places to which I've been personally referred to). I will start making calls to see if there are any local shops which will check alignment w/o charge and give me a printout (my tires seem good)...

    Alignment shop in San Diego?

FYI: John's Automotive Center which was on Miramar Rd. has been bought by new owners and is now called Miramar Family Auto Service. Read Yelp reviews. I have not gone to the new place. There is a John's Automotive Care in San Diego but they are not affiliated; $90 to check alignment.

'04 Trac front alignment? Is the shop trying to trick me??

The shop wants $86 to align the front end, which I can handle, but they said it's another $67 for caster / camber kit, and $88 labor to install, saying "will take us 3 - 4 hours". I thought 2002 and newer didn't use caster / camber kits? and instead you could add washers? Is it possible they're...

Front Suspension parts identification / serious problem leaning = '04 SportTrac 175K mi.

Update: the shop put my Trac on the lift to inspect for possible cause of listing to left, nothing obvious found. They did say (and I've read this elsewhere) that the weight of the gas tank and driver tend to wear out the left side leaf springs. Will look for directions on swapping the right to...

Front Suspension parts identification / serious problem leaning = '04 SportTrac 175K mi.

I removed just one side first, so I couldn't angle the swaybar low enough untiI I put the jack under the bolt for the endlink and raised it up so the threads went through the swaybar enough to place the rubber bushings / washer / nut on. I did use some grease, but still notice some squeak. Feels...

Looked through the titles of the 27 pages of Projects (couldn't figure out how to Search in Projects) but didn't see any jobs for adjusting torsion bars. So far no decent YouTube videos, all I find are for other vehicles, and terrible quality. LMK if you have any suggestions. I'd like to try...

I've had it since new, 18 years. The rear is leaning too.

Just got to OReilly’s to get the 10.25”stabilizer bars. Will check suspension parts before trying torsion bar adjustment, lean seems to be getting noticeably worse …

blert: I'm on the Moog site now, thanks, you caught me on my way out the door to Ford parts. Do you think it's this link, for stabilizer end links , vs. anti-sway bar end links? I looked up on the Moog site, directed me to O'Reilly's, they have two kits, one for $16 ea. w/8.5" bolts, one for $22...

Front Suspension parts identification / serious problem leaning = '04 SportTrac 175K mi.

I'm a Firefighter, relatively handy, so I'm wondering if this is a job I can do myself. Noticed my truck pulling left a bit, leaning left (see photos). Just looked underneath front suspension, I think this short vertical rod (#13 in diagram) is the "stabilizer end link"(?), and is missing rubber...

Door Keypad intermittent 2004 Sport Trac

Follow up: I've been being very careful to push the edge of each button, slowly and carefully, and it's usually worked on the 1st try; sometimes 2nd, and one or two times it took 3 tries. But I also have been leaving one door unlocked just in case. And I hid a key outside the cab. I'll continue...

Door Keypad intermittent 2004 Sport Trac

Question: if my keypad is fine, why would I replace it? What is "Ethernet" the door? If there are damaged wires, why would it work after several tries? I always assumed there was a separate tiny "backup" battery for the door, in case the car battery died, but I guess not. Hideakey is taped...

Door Keypad intermittent 2004 Sport Trac

I'm still using the factory code. I think the 1:2 button contact is getting worn, but I can't reprogram it; I've tried countless times.
