Browning Citori. Best shotgun ever made. 12ga., over/under. And don't get the ones made in Japan, only the US made ones. For home protection I use my .40cal Sig 229 and a .380 Sig 238 with laser sights. Damn accurate, point and shoot. Bob :fire:

870 for my choice. Easy to maintain, no brainer to use.

Other than that, choose the gun that makes the most noise when you rack one in the chamber. That will save you from ever having to use it. That's the one sound someone breaking in doesn't want to hear.

Both will do the job. Thousands of used ones out there. Mossburg would be less expensive, I think the Remington is better made.

if it was me i would get a Taurus judge handgun it will shoot a .45 cal round or a .410 shotgun round...

I have a S&W Governor. Same thing as the Judge Public Defender, except it holds 6 rounds and I liked the grip better. I'm just looking for a second weapon...you know...in case the .45 long colt doesn't work.

I have a 500A short barrel, pistol grip......

My vote for home defense goes to mossberg.

I think the Remington is better made.

Gary - have you seen any of the new Remmington's?? Quality is definitely not what they used to be. How is the club? I have been shooting at blue trails lately whenever I get a few hours to go.

I would have to go with either the Taurus Judge 45-410 or the S&W Governor 45-410. Both will chamber either the 45 Cal long or a 410 shotgun shells in birdshot/buckshot or you can mix and match shotgun shells with 45 cal bullets. All of them are lethal at close range and the shotgun shells do not require an expert shot. Best legal form of a sawed off shotgun you can get. Most longer shotguns are a bit too large/long and unweildy indoors and in close quarters.

870 for me. I've got a pistol grip 12ga. 870 by the bed for home defense and a 20ga. 870 in the closet as a backup/bird gun

And if those fail, my 1873 45colt is in the bedside table.

I am not paranoid. I just like guns and being prepared

Hugh,

A home defense weapon is "The Proper Authority" in my house, it's much quicker and it knows how to do it's job. Why would you trust your life to someone you don't even know (The crook or the cops)? Just because you let him take your money or valuables does not mean he won't shoot you anyway, so I hope you have a good life insurance policy, and good luck with dialing 911 while you're lying on the floor bleeding to death.
