Hello All.

For those following me on Face Book you know what I am about to say, But for those that don't, Here we go !!

On March 21st 2012 I under went Gastric Bypass Surgery. This was something I had been thinking about since early 2009. In DEC of 2011 I pulled the trigger and started the process.

I will spare you all the Hard work and dedication this takes from you, mental and physical tolls it takes. This was a hard decision for me to make. I was not unhealthy, Normal blood work, No diabetes, NOTHING !!! I was just big !!! I struggled with this all my life and decided I want to be around and enjoy before something does go wrong !!!

My Wife Rachel has been a blessing through this, She slept in the hospital with me all 3 nights, Took care of me as for taking off all the equipment so I could walk, and do what had to be done. She has to learn how to cook everything, make everything, and be careful around me now with stuff as not to give me Dumping Syndrome, make me sick or hurt me.

I cant lift any thing over 15 lbs for 6 weeks, So its gonna be tough around the house with the summer coming, Got to just take it easy and recover. !!!

I did not tell too many people as thats kinda the way I am, I had to make the decision and just do it !!!

Since December I lost on my own 50LBS !!!!!! Going to the Gym, Diet and Mental health.

Since the surgery I lost over 12Lbs in 6 days.

I wanted my ST family to know and I will keep you all posted on my progress if you like.

I do have before and after pics But right now, I am not posting them any where just yet.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and feel free to ask questions, I am willing and happy to help and answer questions.

Thank you all !!!

I did see this on FB and was very impressed to see that you accomplished your goal of getting this done. I'm in the same boat as you as I mentioned before. I am not unhealthy, I work hard and am also a part time firefighter. I'm just big. Being 6'4'' and tipping the scales at just over 400lbs isn't really that good for me. I hope to get into this sometime by the end of this year. I'm looking forward to my new birth date as well! Good job Todd and best of luck!!! :supercool:

My daughter had the surgery about four years ago. Her weight stabilized at about 60% of her pre-op weight. She too, had a struggle with the procedures and therapies that came along with (and after) the operation, but she considers it one of the best decisions of her life. She will never be a twiggy, but she looks good, feels comfortable, and is no longer embarrassed about her appearance. Good luck to you Todd, and keep your eyes at the end goal, you will find it is well worth the effort.

That's Awesome! Good luck with the rest of the process, you're doing amazing. I have a couple family members that have tried this with great results.

I'm proud of you man! That was a huge step for you. You've been in my prayer book for a while now. If there's anything you need or that I can help with just call. I'm only 3 hours away!! Will be stopping up soon to check on you, just to make sure you can still race the truck. God bless my friend. Bob

Fantastic Todd! Just don't change the "inner" Todd we all know.

Good luck with your progress and a complete and speedy recovery.

Just think Todd, you're becoming 1/2 the man you were....but 2 times the man you will be. Congrats.......and good luck on you recovery

Congratulations, My best friend had the surgery December 28, He has also struggled with weight all his life, but bloodwork was great for him as well. He is down around 80lbs since he first started this journey as well. Stay strong, I see him everyday and see the mental and physical demands it takes on him. Rachel will be a huge asset to you being on board with this. My friends wife was against having the surgery, she likes big men! Glad you have a support system in place, Congrats again, im sure you will be happy with your decision. Jim
