i asked this before.

i am curious again as i am getting tired of the 39 mile each way on the long isle expwy. the ride is on average over an hour unless i cheat and do the HOV lane.(this has become the norm lately!)

what makes it worse, is my new ride is already getting sand blasted with just over 6K miles.

how far is yours and what type of circumstances?

you don't want me to answer this. i live at the beach and teach 6 blocks from my house. although on tuesday nights, I go west of philly to teach at college. 110 miles one way

From the house to the Wawa, to get coffee, and back home again. Hmmm, its about 5 miles each way. Semi-retirement suits me just fine!! Bob

Well since I am currently going back to school (community college) and the subject I am enrolled in is only offered at this particular comm. college, on the days I do go it is (depending on what rought I take) 56-58 miles from my drive to the parking lot. Then throw in another 2-3 miles of misc driving and I could be possibly be looking at 120 mile round trip going about 4 days a week. fall semester of 2011 I was spending approx. $120-$150 per week in gasoline.

It's a killer.

96 miles round trip M-F in DC stop an go traffic! My 2010 has 66k miles already. $60+ in gas every 3 days and I'm getting around 17mpg. I'll be looking for a disposable car soon.

I have been 100% retired for the past 20 months and loving it. No commuting, except from my kitchen to my home office, or to the living room. I do go into town every couple of days and that's about 15 miles each way. As gas prices increase I try to plan my stops and route so I can make less trips.

Let's see. Mmmm. How many steps from my bedroom, or family room, or kitchen to the office/spare room? This consulting part time when retired has really killer commutes. Oh hell, it's less than 25 feet from wherever I am in the home to get to my work station. lol

When working from the "home office", then the commute is two floors from my bedroom to my basement office. When working out of the "corporate office" it is 670 miles, one way. I live in PA, but the company is HQed out of Duluth, GA. I will be there this coming week!

13 miles one way. I did the LIE routine for a number of years from exit 63, replaced windshields several times per year from rocks and if they survived the rocks they got so pitted you could barely see out of then when the sun hit.

0 miles.. :)

hate to brag, but you asked... i work from home managing a team of software developers for a large software company. Only miles i put on the truck are around town for errands, or off road.. so as a norm, i only get 10MPG but am only adding about 200 miles a month.

Mine is less than 2 miles each way. Last week I rode my motorcycle every day. It took me $14.00 to fill up the gas tank yesterday, but that included an 80-mile ride last Sunday.:angry::fire:

My 2010 trac just turned 11,000 miles, and I have only had it for 18 months.

One way: 29 miles, 20 of that highway. Leave it to Colorado to build a 65 mph curve fest. I usually set cruise to 69 mph and see if I can keep it going through the sharper turns hehe.

I'm 10 miles each way--which my wife thinks is ludicrously long, as she teaches at the grade school a few blocks down the street.

thx.

i hate you work from home people :cheeky: :haveabeer:

....fkent484, i thought i was the only one who thought it is BS that it happens from the sand trucks :fire:

8 miles for me and my commute is against the flow of traffic which is a good thing since the other side of the freeway is always backed up during those times.

39 miles itself really is not too bad. The biggest issue is that you are in NY.

The traffic adds so much to your commute it isn't funny.

If you could travel at a decent speed I would imagine you would be satisfied with your drive???

Looked at my service schedule I keep on the ST and Oct 21, 2011 to Thurs 3/22/12 I had put approx 8700 miles on my ST. Figured at and average of $3.50 a gallon I have spent $1760 in gasoline in 5 months. Looking for a disposable car or a different motorcycle since I beleive I have the 84 Honda VF750F V45 Interceptor sold.
