i have a 2001 sp 4x4 with 160,000k i had it a few months, but notice a gas smell while driving. it also idles around 500. the pre. owner did new wires, plugs, and cleaned the injectors. i did a trans filter, air filter, fuel filter, cleaned mass air and iac. ect. i also do not have any codes, and it passes emissions last month. what could it be. im stumped. could it be the intake gasket? the smell makes my eyes water.

thanks

EVAP canister? I don't believe they can be serviced, just replaced.

It sounds extremely dangerous. Buy and keep a carbon monoxide sensor in your cab until you can figure it out. I would always have a window open too. :soap:

It might be above the spare tire. I think you might find a picture of it in the projects, Body Lift and it is pointed out when lifting the box off, or else it might be associated with changing the fuel pump in the tank?
