What is involved in installing a rear sway bar on a Gen2 and how difficult is it? What else do I need? I have the bar and I am probably just gonna pay someone to install it but I just have the bar.. no bolts or anything else.

From what i understand on the Gen 2 it is close to 2 hours, you should also have brackets as ford changed them when they changed the bar.....You have to remove some suspention parts and a fuel line...

The rear endlinks you can re use or measuer the OEM ones and get aftermarket ones to replace the OEM....

You will have the sway bar brakets and bolts coming to you in about 2 weeks.

They are in teh garage on my toolbox....

Not hard at all! A little difficult to get at the bolts from some angles, but nothing so hard that it cant be done in <2 hours. I replaced mine along with the energy suspension endlink bushings both front and back. Noticeable improvement in handling from side-to-side, MUCH less body roll.

Just so you know in 09 the larger bar was factory installed..

If you don't have new plastic bushings, you should get and install new, good, poly bushings and if you can get it, a bushing holder with a zirc fitting to add grease. I don't know what happened to graphite impregnated bushings that didn't need lube, but those were nice. Just don't put back old or new butyl rubber bushings with this upgrade. Would you use stock FoMoCo brake pads with a Brembo brake system?

Mustang Guy,

The sway bar he is installing is an OEM Ford bar... Ford upgraded the diameter of the rear bar in 09..... so the 2007 and 2008 have a stock OEM smaller bar...

IceMan, thanks..I appreciate that!

Todd, from what I understand from Doug, the bar I have is an 09. =)

Tommy, you are correct......

SO it is an upgrade for you...

He's saying upgrade the bushings, also.

But the part he is installing is an OEM ford part..... LOL

Yes I do agree replacing the plastic sleeves on the OEM stuff is a good idea...
