I haven't mentioned this before on this site, but like most people who get good news, I felt the need to share it with someone--and I happened to be here at the moment. :)

My 8-year-old nephew had open heart surgery today, trying to treat his pulmonary atresia. I just got word that the surgeons are in the process of closing right now, everything so far has gone extremely well, no surprises, and he's off the heart/lung bypass machine. Considering the seriousness of the procedure, it's apparently gone as well as could be hoped for.

Like I said, just felt the need to share.

Glad you did, Wish him a speedy and healthy recovery !!!

Aloha Bill,

Wonderful news for you and your family. Give glory to God.

Thanks everyone. His name is Ben. He's at Mayo in Rochester, MN, for at least the next week. Here's a photo of him and his siblings, in Rochester a couple days ago. (Ignore the date on the print--it just means that his mother--my sister--doesn't know how to set the time/date on her camera, or turn off the date stamping.) He's the blonde in back. He's second oldest, but he's the smallest in size thanks to this condition.

AWESOME! Great way to start the week. Eight-year olds can sometimes teach us "grown ups" something about strength, courage, and will. God Bless.

GREAT NEWS :D

it's always difficult, but with a child it is real moving.

GOD bless and we will all pray for a speedy recovery

Bill.

Very glad to hear it went well, and I truly hope it continues to do so.

Congrats and best of luck to you and the family in the future...

That is a really good thing to hear. Congrats, and hope he has a fast and good recovery, but I am certain he will.
