Recently, I noticed that the driver's side door on my '02 Sport Trac is not closing easily. Upon further inspection, the hinge pins are wore, causing considerable movement. New upper and lower hinges are over $250 each! Can the hinge pins be replaced on this vehicle?

YES !!!!! there is a kit on ebay for sale.... you MUST grind out the old pins and then install the kit. it doesn't come with instructions so you need to know how to do it.... its like $60....

good luck, keep us posted... BEST thing to do is disconnect the wore coupler by the nut on top, have a person help you REMOVE the door, then change the pins and bolt the door back on..... way easier..

How did this go? I have a 2004 sport trac with the same issue. Did the bushings fit, etc? What went well, what didn't go well, etc? Thanks.
Bob

Well, first I ordered a replacement hinge from the local salvage yard. This was a fail, as the "new" used hinge was in bad shape just like my original. I replaced the hinge bushings from a kit I purchased. Long story short, I am on my 2nd set of replacement bushings, and the door is only marginally better. Sorry for the bad report! Let me know if you find a better solution.

I am sorry to hear that as both my front doors are worn and need to be lifted up to close - I also was thinking of just replacing the entire hinge but was turned off by the price so bought a pin/bushing kit last week - was planning on installing it next weekend - now I am interested to see if it works

Ive done a bunch of these.... ( All still working fine) BUY the FULL ebay kit, Take the dam door off the truck and grind out the old pins, then install the new bushings and pins..... Have a helper... Then re align the door and striker.
Cutting corners will only make it worse.....

What eBay kit is it? There are so many listed.

Make sure your body mount bushings are good first. The fore and aft ones don't deteriorate fast at all but the two middles ones rot out quick, leading to the body sagging, leading to the doors not working well. If they are bad then no amount of new hinge parts are going to help. Replace them first if needed and you might find that it wasn't the door hinges causing the problem.

I can lift the door up and down - Super loose.

It was the ranger kit that had the nuts on the bottom... Im not sure exactly... its about 2 years since i did it.
