Id change that coil, run a chevron with techron cleaner.. Also the compression test will not show a bad valve follower. So you may have to yank the valve cover at some point if you cant narrow it down.

Rgr that.

Ive run two tanks of Techron Total Fuel System Cleaner, made the mixture a lil strong.

If/when i get the overheating taken care of VCs are coming off to have the gaskets replaced so ill do some checks.

Tstat housing is in and so is new water pump. The fan blades were split to shit along the hub portion is new one coming from rock auto.

the weep hole in the old pump was full of debris. Grayish yellowish. Completely full but the impeller looked fine.

took the radiator out and flushed it with a garden hose. Careful not to get water in the trans cooler hose line section. Is there an easy way to flush the heater core?

I recently replaced my fan clutch. My fan also had splits around the hub. They werent' completely through or around. So I left it alone.
I have had other fords that did the same. The fans still lasted the life of the vehicle. Ot every 10yrs when I sold them. It seems that I have seen this issue alot, but never seen a fan failure. Only the clutch.
If you have access to a garden hose and your hot water heater. You could flush that way. Just tke the control valve off, and dump the hot water on the ground. Or when you put it all back togegther. Use some flush before you refill with coolant.

heater core would be just flush with the garden hose low pressure, BUT that being clogged with not cause an overheat issue.

Head gasket. Won’t hold vacuum and I can hear the leak when I open the throttle body.

start playing Taps boys.

could not be more let down at this point. Wife is gunna be pissed

Hearing is not testing..... use the proper tools to diagnose the issue....

What do I need to do to test it then?

What I’ve done

tested coolant system under vacuum:
Leaks with sound heard through the intake.

test compression on cyl that was misfiring : 182

cyl that was misfiring plug is washed with coolant and when held vertical dripped coolant.

Whats everyones take on rebuild/replace/sell.

Its a 2004 ST 4x4 with 213k miles and blown HG or warped/cracked head

Money is an issue.

Im into it for about 2850.

Primary use is picking up kids from daycare and the occasional trip to Home Depot. (2nd vehicle)

I really cant afford to get a motor unless its a steal. All ive found on Lkq online is motors for about 1200 with ok miles. Thats looking at ST motors and ranger/explorers.

The sound you hear from the intake, under vaccum or pressure on any cylinder. At your milage could be a valve not seating compltely.
If you aplly presure to a cylinder. If the head gasket is blown into the coolant. you will see bubling in the radiator.

So the leak COULD be a leaking valve seal?

But since im getting coolant into the cylinder and onto the plug there is no other explanation then a head/gasket issue correct? How is the high compression in that cylinder explained? Should be low if its leaking right??? Test was done on a warm motor.

IT could have water in it and that's not compressible, thus causing high numbers.
