Flasher relay

Don't think there is one. I think the signals are controlled through the SJB (Smart Junction Box). That SJB really makes me feel like a dummy sometimes!

Ok.Now where is the SJB at?

On Fords, it's where the clicking is when the turn signal in operating. On the Gen 1 Sport Trac, it was mounted on a bracket attached to the dashboard near the accelerator pedal.

SJB is just the under dash fuse box, left side of dash, but it's now much more than just a box to hold fuses and relays. It's basically a combo fuse box/GEM. There is no flasher "relay". What is the problem with your turn signals? First thing check Fuse 22.

NOTE: The smart junction box (SJB) is also known as the generic electronic module (GEM).

Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps

When the multifunction switch is placed in the LH or RH TURN positions, the SJB routes voltage to the LH or RH turn signal lamps. The SJB then cycles the voltage on and off approximately 80 times per minute. If a front or rear turn bulb is inoperative, the SJB cycles the voltage on and off approximately 160 times per minute for bulb outage indication.

The hazard switch is integral to the multifunction switch. When the hazard switch is engaged, the SJB supplies voltage to all the turn lamps. The SJB cycles the voltage on and off approximately 80 times per minute.

First thanks for all the info guys and nothing is wrong with signals just wanted to upgrade to the LED bulbs and was trying to figure out how to stop the hyperflashing and bulb out readings on the instrument panel message board.

Don't think you're going to be able to do that. They draw so much less current that the GEM/SJB senses a burned out light.

There is something you can place in line to stop the hyper flash if I remember right. Use a resistor. I think there is a kit out there for just that

Adding resistors is so amateurish. Just get a flasher designed for use with LEDs. They're all over eBay.

I pulled mine and it doesn't look like a normal flasher. It looked REALLY expensive-probably OEM only which=$$$$s, so I hope I never need one. I would almost guess it should be included in a vehicle specific kit.

Is there anyone with GEN2 ST out there with the aftermarket LED turn signal bulbs installed with no hyperflashing?

for GEN 2 - they have GEM/SJB NO REALYS!!!
there are a number of people with LEDs. BUT you need special CANBUS bulbs rated for the proper current of the ST GEM/SJB. OR you can add in-line load resistors. to the LED bulbs. OR you can open up your SJB and tweak the circuits.... no recommended.

*** if you buy LEDs that are suppose to have no CANBUS issues buy them from a legit site not ebay or amazon - you get what you pay for. i blew up my GEM/SJB one time (~600 dealer fix) because of shitty Chinese electronics that lied about CANBUS compatibility - basically blew my 10amp fuse then i popped another in but only had 15amp... and it blew the SJB HSD for that circuit and lost all brakes, turn signals, flashers etc. bacially cased DTC B106F. only way to fix is new SJB reprogrammed from forscan - by pulling profile off old GEM/SJB and flashing or dealer doing it.

forscan will gran the DTCs for the GEM/SJB IC and all modules that a normal OBDII cannot. if you are having issues i highly recommend this.

SJB are located at driver side wheel well behind E-Brake levers. 3 screws hold them in with 2 harness going to it. you can buy a new one aftermarket for $250 and forscan is free aslong as your scanner is compatible.
