Hello. I just joined today to ask something I've been wondering about for years. I've noticed an "outlet" right behind the grille and in front of the radiator when opening the hood of my explorer. Can someone tell me what this is?

IIRC, it's an unused fog lamp connector. You don't have fog lamps, correct?

EDIT ---> Oops! (See Eddie's CORRECT reply below) LOL

No, mine came without the fog lamps. The housing where the fog lamps are supposed to go are sealed. Would it be possible to install the fog lamps and have them work with the headlights? Or would I have to have a dedicated switch for them to activate them separately?

If your truck was made in Canada it could be for your block heater . Welcome here . Always a good place for what ever you may want to know ,even this outlet . I would attach a plug to it and see if you can hear something running like a block heater .

Eddie is correct, That's where the temp sender would go if you had an overhead temp display...
