I have 2007 XLT V6. I have a ripped CV boot and the axle is orginal so I'm planning on replacing. It appears that once I remove tire, brakes and hib bearing, the axle should just pull right out - is it truely a plug and play or is there some dumb clip somewhere that you have to find?

no need to remove hub bearing.... Jack by frame and use a jack stand.... Loosen axle nut BY HAND !! then jack up lower control arm to take off weight.. Take off OUTTER tie rod end.... push axle in and take out.... Re assemble THEN TORQUE axle nut IN THE AIR! have some one hold the brakes..... this is the short short version.
