I'm looking for a place to purchase a tailgate for a 2001 ST (anywhere but the dealer!). A combination of gravity and Murphy's law caused a very large auger to jump off a trailer and and attempt to eat my tailgate. It only got a few bites but they were big ones.

You might want to check with member Coastiejoe, he can get you a list of junk yards near your zip code that are showing as having a tailgate available.
 
Yeah, either Coastie or check junkyards yourself. If one doesn't have a tailgate they can usually find one somewhere else and get it shipped in. Most vehicles get wrecked in the front, so rear end parts are usually pretty easy to come by.

Just destroyed mine today. Are they easy to replace? It's a 2004 Sport Trac XLT in white. Thanks. I'm in San Diego 92037
