Well I know that describing noises on the the internet often doesn't lead to much, I'd appreciate and insight available. Noise started a couple weekend ago as a rotational clicking coming from the rear end. I put the truck in drive and jogged beside it, the noise sounds like it's coming from right behind the rear driver's side wheel, not central. Noise goes away when the brakes are applied, or when going above 20 mph. No clicking at all when in reverse. As a test, I loaded about 2500 rpm on the torque converter and launched. The noise went away for about a day and returned. I then roadtripped to truck about 400 miles to the point where I am now. Same as before, just more clicking and binding noises. I went ahead and replaced the rear half shaft, it did not fix the issue. The only other roatational item right behind the wheel is the hub bearing, but I have never heard of a bearing clicking and binding. What else could this be? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Aaron

Not being familiar with the gen2. As a guess, the bearing hub or the disc pads are loose when the brakes are relaxed. Rotatation of the rotor will cause pad movement.
I have had pads that clicked that way. Many years ago on a different car. The caliper piston relaxed too much and the anti rattle clips were missing.

I do believe it is the bearings. Brake pads are almost new Bosch pad so I think they're good. I layed under the truck and had a coworker let off the brakes and I do believe it's the bearings. I've just never heard a bearing pop, only roar. Thanks for the comment Eddie

Check the Drive shaft carrier bearing, ALSO it could be the parking brake if you did not lubricate the points when changing rotors..... roll the truck at 5MPH and apply the parking brake, let it roll for a few feet then release........ DONT apply the brake for a day or so and see if the noise is gone.........
ALSO the Gen2 has known for blowing out frame bushings that mount the rear diff... I have thousands of pic on face book pages about all the Gen2 rear noises... I can post some pics here if you like when I have time...... ITs another crappy Ford design.....

I checked the rear diff housing and busching right after I saw your thread on blue lol they're fine. I will try other suggestions and get back to you in a few days. Thanks todd

Parking bracket trick didn't do it. 99% sire it's wheel bearings so I'll probably do those this weekend. I got Canadian wheel bearing I think they'll roll down the road saying "eheheheheh" lol;)

LOL.... any update?

Replaced wheel bearings, long story of bent snap rings on the cv's and destroyed axle nuts.... Noise still occurring. I did notice all the little metal shims that go on where the brake pads meet the knuckle, were all missing. Makes me wonder if the brakes pads are rattling, would explain why it doesn't occur while braking

That sucks. Yes it’s the pads. Did you install the new style pad with the metal bracket that holds it from rattleing??? It’s a different part number the the original.

I'm not sure of the number, they're Bosch pads. The bottom part has an actual Grove on it whereas the top only has 1 little arm

Looks like this
