Had to replace two broken cruise control buttons on a truck I purchased for my son. Once we replaced the buttons, and attached the battery, the horn started blowing. I disconnected the battery, thinking I must have messed up the contacts under the airbags. However, all was connected right.

I have removed the entire horn assembly, and even disconnected the wired from the clock spring. I thought maybe it was a bad clock spring. No aftermarket alarm system is installed.

I assume there is a ground somewhere that is making contact. I ran a probe light from the positive terminal of the battery, to the yellow/green wire under the steering column, and got a light. I don’t think the light should have illuminated, but I could be wrong. I think this indicates a short circuit, it not sure of my troubleshooting methodology.

Can anyone shed light on what the problem might be or if my troubleshooting is headed in the right direction?

The truck runs just fine, and I have replaced the horn relay under the hood.

sounds like you pinched a wire in the steering column, broke the clock spring when re assembling or did something else while in there.... Maybe bent the tabs for the horn and they are touching....
