I am putting my Sport Trac up for sale. It dropped the #2 cyl. now runs on 5. It has around 115,000 miles, new tires, shell, new coil/wires.
 
That stinks..... sadly this happens and no one knows why..... no good mechanic in your area, or back yard guy that can fix cheaply for you?? a member had a guy in Florida that does back yard work and changed a whole motor for $800 !!!!!
 
The one good mechanic that I know says it's very hard to work on, special tools and all. Two overhead cams to keep right, lots of work to replace the parts, etc... I do think it's a real great SUV/Truck but it just would need a new long block put in at this point, that's just what I think. Will post pictures.

Id find a motor installer and put in a rebuilt motor and keep it..... But that's your call.....
