My third brake light was leaking all over the rear seats. I bought a replacement, took the old one off and when I did, the pig-tail came unplugged. I can't reach it. Does anyone know how to get to it so I can plug the new light in?

Other than using something to fish the pigtail..IDK.
When you put it back on use silicone sealant anboth sides of the gasket. 3rd BLleaks have been a problem with many gen2 owners.

we had this same problem.. I had to pull the molding off and pull the roof liner down a bit and get it that way.. Open the rear window so you can get to both areas at once, or you might need a second person to help out. I was able to do this without taking down the dome light but you have to just be careful without how hard you pull.

On a side note, if you can't find a direct replacement, we found that for my 2001 ST, the light is exactly the same on early 2000 F-150's. Our replacement came from a 2002 F150 Harley Davidson..
