Installed the Gates kit yesterday on Blue. Not too bad 35 min and all new pulleys and belt. Need it as its been making noise and since the pulleys sit on machined bungs on the timing covers, if the bearing ever fails bad it damages major components and lots of work to repair. Also found tie rod boot ripped, So adding it to the list for next month.

Is the pulley you replaced the idler pulley or all of the pulleys?

I always use gates tensoner pullys'. Gates uses a flat wound spring. Flat wound hold its tenson for the life of the bearing and sheave.
The gates also runs smoother with less bounce than spiral wound wire springs.

No surprise the OE tensioner is Gates, at least for the Gen 1.
