I've had enough of the shifter lockout pin slipping out after doing the Flex knob swap. I ordered a new shift assembly and going back to stock. Has anyone swapped out the assembly? I don't normally ask for tips or help but I'm not finding anything on Google. 2010 V6 4x4 Limited. I posed the question on FB but no one chimed in :(

I know it requires removal of the console.....

I can take pics of the service manual when I get home if you like.

Also Tag me in the Fb post so I remember.

Some info and a video linked. May be missing some pics though.

sorry to hear you have issues with the flex shifter, I'm 06blueZ on the explorer forum and posted that guide...

if your horizontal pin is slipping out, it's not the flex shifter's fault, but your plastic vertical plunger is broken where the horizontal pin presses into it. you'll just need to replace the plastic plunger, or fab up a metal version of it using some rod of the right size. I took a long drill bit of the right size and made a replacement for the plastic plunger after three broken OEM plastic pieces on my truck...

Mike, that is great to know about the plunger breaking, the pin has been falling out much more frequently. I left the 2 screws out of console so I can pull it up to push the pin back in when the key is stuck. I'll take new assembly and use parts out of it versus pulling the entire assembly out.

I do love the Flex set up and was disappointed I might of had to go back to stock.

You made my day!
