How many hours labor for $1800? Most tranny rebuilds cost that much. :driving: Great it is back on the road and as good as new! :supercool:

You diagnosis looks nearly identical to mine and the write up is similar as well. Mine is an '07 though. Wonder if we had the same internal failure?? Mine ended up needing a driveshaft as well, and I had the Transfer case opened and checked. If it busted the driveshaft mounts I wanted to be sure the inside of the TC was still good.

What was the part they said failed? If I recall they told me a spring broke inside and shifted from 2nd into reverse while travelling forward. This event happened about 10k before my failure though I think (at the time thought I hit a pothole or road debris because all was normal after the jolt from it) The day of failure it happened as I was going up a slight incline and it downshifted and felt weird. Next traffic light it was stuck in 3rd. Shut the Trac off, restarted it and drove home normally. After that it was stuck in 3rd when I restarted it.

If you're like me you're now hyper-sensitive to every shift ad tying to decide if it felt normal or not. I've got almost 12k on the rebuilt transmission and still can't drive it without worrying...

Labor is a pain on the 4wd v8.....

IT is what it is, Need the truck and really don't want to part with it.

I DID have help with the bill so it was cheaper and even locally a tranny was $2,300 material any way so it works out for me actually...

It does feel like a NEW truck, I hate to say but I think the original was bad from day one,

Seems like a bad converter clutch slowly tearing itself apart..
