Can anyone help me find the correct part #'s for all the hoses that go with the 2004 Sport Trac, that pertain to the heating and cooling? I've never replaced any of these ever. While sitting at 185,000 miles.. I think it is about time I replace them. I am looking to replace all hoses that deal with coolant. I seem to have a coolant leak some where on the passenger side above the headers and I am unsure which one it is. So I figured, why not just replace them all. Thanks for any help.

While it is a good idea to periodically replace cooling system hoses (and I'd do it, too, as you plan), it's best to identify the leak, as it may be a head gasket, or something other than a hose. You wouldn't want to do lot of work to find that the problem remains.

Lower thermostat housing is the first place to check for passenger side coolant leaks on the 4.0 SOHC. Use a small mirror and flashlight to inspect.

If leaking, use the RH148 single sensor housing if you only have one sensor wire connector to the housing. Extremely common failure.

Great source for diagrams with COMPLETE Ford part numbers. Google search part numbers only for price comparisons. Use VIN for accuracy.

Thanks for info. At 185k, I have already gone through 2 of those PITA thermo housings. I don't feel like it is again. I dearly hope it is not a head gasket. I have already replaced the upper intake gasket. There is a bracket on the passenger side called the AUX heater line, that has 5 coolant hoses that connect to it. That was bad once, and I had trouble finding a replacement, but I did. I cleaned the used one up and repainted it, so I doubt it is that. Since I have never replaced any of those hoses that connect to AUX heater line, I am thinking I should replace them. A schematic or however it is spelled would be good to see. It is really hard to tell where the leak is coming from. It seems to only leak when the heater is on. One day I drove it 5 miles with heater on to get gas. Had white smoke coming out. Second time I drove it over 100miles with no heater, and got no smoke. Just drove it last night with the heater on for about 3 miles, and had smoke. I believe it to be one of the hoses.

Check the hose coming out ("downstream") of the heater core. Unless there is a bypass, and I think there is not, this hose would not be pressured when the heat control is set to cool (heater off).

I'd do this first to confirm whether it is the culprit and then move on the others.

("Schematic" is correct. ;)

The other weird part is... I've tested the theory of the heater running. I let the truck sit in the drive way today with the heat on full blast for almost 20 minutes. Turned the heat off, took it for a drive for about 5 miles. Came home... no smoke. Let the truck sit another 20 minutes with the heat, then A/C. No smoke. Seems only wants to smoke while driving with heat on. Driving with the A/C on, no smoke.

I will check that hose sometime tomorrow after work. I have searched online for the hoses in that general area and haven't found much. Seem to only find the upper and lower radiator hoses. Haven't see any that connect to the heater aux bracket.

When running in the driveway, was the engine idling? Many leaks hold some pressure. I suspect that, to have it leak, more pressure is needed than idle provides.

So it appears one of the hoses that connect to the heater aux bracket is the problem. Anyone know what the part numbers are of the hoses that connect to the heater aux bracket on the passenger side? I am not seeing much information on the net. Would rather shop on the net for the better price...

Looks like a I have a bit of leak on the coolant res tank where the small hose connects to the overflow tank. Found online the tank for about 55 and the hose for 15. Truck has been sitting outside all day, and not turned on. And the it is leaking.

Is this "the" leak, or an additional leak?

I'd replace one part at a time to avoid replacing good parts. Check for a lose clamp or a cracked hose or reservoir.

So i replaced the coolant overflow tank. It had a crack in it. The hose to it also had a cut in it. I still seem to have a leak coming from above the headers where the aux heater bracket is mounted at the block. None of the hoses look to be leaking.
