I agree Gavin !

Political parties are just another form of "Special Interest Groups" I would like to see all political parties banned from Presidential elections and you vote for the individual candidate.

Get the money factor out of Presidential elections and you will see a much broader choice of candidtaes. The US government should finance Presidential campaigns and the first 10 candidates must sign up by Jan 1st of the election year. Those candidates will receive and equal portion of the allocated funds....so contributions to candidates or self financed campaigns will be illegal. Once you take the money out of the campaign, things will be more realistic .

Narrowing down the field could be done the same way that it is done on shows like "American Idol", or "The Voice" etc....People call in and pick their favorite after each debate....dropping out of any debate means you are out of the campaign and you will no longer viable candidate.

Early elimination rounds would be based on online resumes and how the candidates answer questions about current topices. Later eliminations would be based on each debate based on phone voting. Eventually they would be based on primary elections until the field is narrowed down to 2 or 3 final candidates that proceed to the actual election in November.

Rich for president !!! I am wondering though. What will the country be like when (if) Trump gets into office. Fiscally, I think that he knows what he is doing. I am really worried about internationally. Do you think that his second and congress will smooth things over?

fingers crossed Ed

My take on Trump is that he really is no dummy, regardless of my initial impressions. He will say whatever it takes to keep him in the spotlight and it doesn't matter how controversial it is or whether or not he even believes it himself. It is all about keeping the focus on him and giving the impression that he is not going to do the same old crap as everyone else. He recognizes that the voters are tired of that and begging for change. My hope is that if he can defeat Billary and all the freeloader Democrat voters he will use his business skills to surround himself with people even smarter than himself to fix this mess. The only way that is going to happen is if he can energize the more responsible voters and convince them to actually vote. Based on the turnouts at his rallies that seems to be working.

I just wish his son Don Jr. was the one running for President. He makes his dad look silly. He would make an excellent Secretary of the Interior as he has a common sense approach to the environment and federal land use. He is a hunter and conservationist, both important in my opinion.

Definitely not a dummy. If his ego is not so large that he does surround himself with the right people, things maybe be ok. President Obama has done that and we still speak English. I put my trust in the Lord but still pay attention to the world.

Rich, I must be getting old. I actually forgot I had even done that!

What is really ironic to me is the fact that the Republican convention will probably be a lot less controversial now than the democrat's. Who would have guessed that two months ago?

The only unanswered question now is who will the Donald pick as his VP?
