Just got a new to me 08 Sport Track XLT, RWD, 47,000 miles on it. I know it's had a radiator flush, and an oil change. Should I run anything else through the engine, transmission, etc? Was thinking of having the local dealer do the 45,000 service on it. I'm not sure of the care the truck got before I got it. I want this baby to last me a LONG time - so trying to get everything up to speed. Any recommendations?

From personal experience I would not take it to a dealer to get work done on it. Local shops are normally just as equipped as a dealer when it comes to replacing all of the fluids. Also, I always recommend full synthetic oils.

thank you Keith S. I am convinced with synthetics. still undecided about blends, but 5w30 synthetic sounds good. Do I need to run any of the foam cleaners, etc? or just get the 45K service? I'll check with my local shop for sure on the service. Do you run synthetic for EVERYTHING?

You can see a full list of fluids by using the Online lookup found on my website. I also have an article on synthetic oils in this forum. See Projects>Maintenance. Several members here have gotten their AMSOIL products through me. I'd like to help you too.

would advise to drop the tranny pan, remove/replace the filter. Refill with name brand fluid.

This is an easy owner job. DIY is about $30.00. shop cost (not dealer) $90.00.

Well worth it.

Inspect the ball joints and idle arms, any grease zerks S/B lubed. Again an easy DIY job.

Get a vacuum pump, pump out all the brake fluid from the reservoir and replace. Do this at every oil change. Steering fluid, pump out all you can from the reservoir and replace with fresh, Do this at every oil change.

This is not limited to your ST but is good carma with any vehicle.
