If the ecm chip fits my 04 ST I would do a swap if you are interested. Where are you located? I looked up the info on diablo and don't see it listed as fitting an ST so we need to make sure it will work.
I agree with Vic. Likely a stuck Tstat and the blower noise was the fan clutch engaging once it sensed the heat after the tstat unstuck. If you changed the stat, you should be good.
Correction to the storage time. He said he bought the 2002 ST in 04 and it was in storage ever since. 11 years in storage.http://www.mysporttrac.com/shared/msgsearch.asp?BOARDNAME=SWAP&SITENAME=mysporttrac

I have a shell that fits my 2004 ST and should fit 01--05 models for sale.
I have only had it a short time and decided it is not what I need. Will be Switching back to the factory tonneau cover instead.

remember to add a brake controller. the ST can pull the weight but over 1500 trailer weight and you need the electric trailer brake unit to get it stopped safely
well my ST was sounding louder by the week and I thought it was Michelin LTX wearing thin making the noise. did a rotation and still the exact same noise. I drive 100M to work Monday and 100M home Friday. Started to feel the road leading the ST around a bit on Monday and the nose seemed to be...
platinums don't wear the center electrode but the sides do. Copper plugs gives the larger spark but plugs gap will widen quicker. Change more often is better - 60k or so with copper IMHO
the switch likely has worn contacts. with the key out while it is dinging, tap the outer housing where the key would go. Dinging stops, you just need a new switch
