    Whining 2005 4x4 Sport Trac

Yes, check the rear diff fluid. Park on a flat surface. There is a fill plug on the front side of it. It takes a 3/8 ratchet. The plug is magnetic-check for excessive metal filings/chunks on it. (some fine filings are normal) Stick your pinky in the fill hole- it should be filled at minimum 1/8...

    Fuel Pump Problem

Also, check the inertia switch well. Look for a melted connector where it plugs in. Press that red button down a few times while cranking

    Fuel Pump Problem

Hi. Try this first: With the parking brake on, have you husband "beat" on the fuel take under the truck continuously with a rubber mallet or gloved hand. While he is doing this, you turn the key to the run position (not cranking) and you both listen for the fuel pump to hum for 1-2 seconds. If...

soft brake pedal after replacing ball joints?

Check the rubber brake hose line leaving the caliper to the steel brake line for a "twist". I believe the hose has grooved lines running parallel along it to aid in this check. The grooved lines should not wrap around at any point. Easy mistake if your not paying attention I guess. May not be...

    2003 Hood Strut

Yep. I got a bumped head as well. I hung my old school work light up on the latch. It closed on me and shattered the light bulb! Went out immediately that moment and got a nicer work light:)

    5R55S Trans pan drop

Just finished the job. WHAT A MESS! Re-used the gasket without issue. Took just over 5qts. I didn't bother messing with the drain nut. Just did the 'ol tilt-n-splash. Did it all without jacking up the truck. I don't know why. I guess I don't like being completely under a vehicle. Plus, I was...

RANT: Wife's car has spoiled me...

I hear you loud and clear. I do maintenance on my mother's fully loaded '07 v6 accord. I drive the crap out of it "to verify the repair";) Even my youngest daughter has a 2010 Mazda Sport. I do the same with hers:) "sporty" cars can be VERY fun and luxurious. But, I must stick to my guns at...

    5R55S Trans pan drop

ToddZ- Haha! I didn't even think about removing that entire plug to drain. It didn't even cross my mind. I was just thinking and going to do it the old school way. Remove a few bolts and play slip and slide in my garage the rest of the day:) Gavin- Thanks buddy. The harshness is an...

    5R55S Trans pan drop

Eddie.. I've considered installing a drain plug on my Gen1 a few times now. I've done the pan drop a few times now and it's not a big job to me just to drop the pan. To be honest, I'm scared to death of drilling into the pan. Especially on my dads ST that I cant monitor daily. If it did leak...
