A/C works great, for a time, then struggles.2010 Adrenalin well maintained, looks new 100,000 miles

I had similar symptoms which turned out to be a slipping clutch on the compressor. I removed one spacer (it was the only one in there) to reduce the gap and now my A/C works great. NOTE: This is the original A/C compressor on my 2002 ST (169K miles). You can find videos on YouTube regarding how...

    Gasoline Mileage

This is 40000 miles of mpg data from my 2002 2WD ST with V6 (which I recently sold). Always averaged around 15 mpg in mostly city driving using 87 octane. It would get ~20 on the highway. This app is called Fuelly.

My A/C has a mind of its own.

I don’t recall the gap specs, but the short answer is yes. If the gap is too big, the clutch won’t be able to engage fully and will slip. If the gap is too small, it may be engaged all the time so the compressor will run constantly which can cause damage. (It’s meant to cycle on and off.) I...

My A/C has a mind of its own.

I lived with the same issue for years with my 2002 ST with original compressor. Multiple shops couldn’t diagnose it. Then, I saw a YouTube video about compressor clutches slipping and how you can remove a spacer (essentially a metal washer) to reduce the clutch gap so that it doesn’t slip...

    Need Help Identifying Squeak

I just stood on the bumper and bounced it up and down. My also squeaked on the right side more than the left. Some grease on the sway bar bolt helped.

    Plastic cladding

I tried a few products to restore the grey plastic cladding on my 2002 ST. This product worked better than anything else I’ve tried.

    Sold my 2002 ST

After 19+ years of ownership, I sold my beloved 2002 ST over the weekend. Purchased it new on January 2, 2002. It was a very reliable daily driver and accrued nearly 170,000 miles. I'll definitely miss "Old Goldie!"

    Hello from NW Ga.

This is what KBB says it’s worth, but $5K seems high to me.

    Hello from NW Ga.

Welcome Ford Guy! I’m in Marietta,GA and I’ve owned the exact same vehicle since new. Mine has 169K on the clock and is in excellent condition, although it was in an accident back in 2012. If you’re willing to share, I’m curious to know what you paid for it as I’m thinking of selling mine...

Who's eying the upcoming Ford Maverick Pickup?

I'm right there with you, Rick. I'm the original owner of a 2002 ST with about 169K miles. She's still going strong, but it won't last forever and I'm thinking about a replacement. Totally agree that the Ranger is too big and expensive and the Bronco/Bronco Sport are not for me either. I want a...

    Need Help Identifying Squeak

My rear sway bar is a squeaker. You may be able to reproduce it by stepping on the rear bumper and bouncing it up and down.

A/C Compressor always running (not cycling off)

Reviving this old thread with an update. My problem turned out to be a slipping clutch on the compressor. I removed one spacer (it was the only one in there) to reduce the gap and now my A/C works great. NOTE: This is the original A/C compressor on my 2002 ST (169K miles).

    Metal to metal noise

Check the sway bar links. The rubber grommets on either end fail which leaves metal to metal. It should be pretty obvious if that's it. They are cheap and easy to replace.

    Topping off coolant

Now you tell me! My radiator started leaking about a month after I replaced the water pump and radiator cap and has since been replaced as well. (Wish I had known it was about to die when I replaced the water pump!) Luckily, it wasn't bad enough to cause any overheating. That was the first...
