2022 Ford Maverick revealed — hybrid pickup gets 37 mpg, costs $21,490

I owned a Sport Trac for 12 years and 164k miles and the MSRP was over $34k back in 2007 so I do know what it's like to own one. I obviously liked it too or I would never have kept it for as long as I did. Unfortunately, Ford abandoned that market for years. I had hoped the "new" Ranger would be...

Rust revealed from removal of running boards

My solution: When I got tired of repairing the rusted out rockers and rear cab corners on my '07 I traded it for an all aluminum bodied F-150.

2022 Ford Maverick revealed — hybrid pickup gets 37 mpg, costs $21,490

Tough crowd . I guess it must be true that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I'm sure the Maverick was in the design stages long before any chip shortage began. While the Maverick may not be a direct replacement for the outdated ST it does appear to be a game changer and should bring...

2022 Ford Maverick revealed — hybrid pickup gets 37 mpg, costs $21,490

Ford Maverick press release: https://performance.ford.com/enthusiasts/media-room/2021/6/maverick-reveal.html?cid=PRODDM217834&bid=728060365 I did a build & price on Ford's website of something I thought my older brother might be interested in. It's an XLT with 2.0L EcoBoost, 8-speed auto, AWD...

    4v 4.6 and transmission into '08.

Do you think he could use the factory exhaust manifolds from the Mark VIII or is there something else that might work better short of having someone like you fab a set of headers? I don't think he was looking to do any serious performance upgrades to the 4V although I suppose that in itself...

    4v 4.6 and transmission into '08.

Did you ever get it running with the 5.4? What kind of structural mods, if any, did you have to make to the frame, firewall, etc.? How much difficulty would the OP have trying to install his 4.6 4V?

What to do when you need to replace your beloved ST?

Actually it's the Bronco Sport that has the 3 cyl as the base engine. The "real" Bronco that hasn't started production yet will use the Ranger's 2.3L 4 cyl EcoBoost as the base engine with the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost as an option. The V6 puts out 400 lb ft of torque which is significantly more than the...

What to do when you need to replace your beloved ST?

That's the rumor for the base engine but there is also supposed to be a 4-cyl option, same as the Bronco Sport.

What to do when you need to replace your beloved ST?

As far as first year reliability issues, that may not be as big of an issue since the Maverick is being assembled in the same plant as the Bronco Sport which also shares its platform with the Escape. The expectation is that the Maverick will share most of its internal components (drivetrains...

What to do when you need to replace your beloved ST?

Rumor has it the Ford Maverick will start around $20k. Production is rumored to be starting in July. As usual, Ford is being pretty tight lipped about it even though there are photos out there without any camouflage. Should be an announcement in the next couple of months. This photo was...

    5.4 swap

This is going to sound strange but I didn't realize until now that the thread the OP had referenced on explorerforum.com was one I started 4 years ago. How times have changed. Interesting to rehash all that stuff but I obviously never did any of that and instead traded the ST for an '18 F-150...

    5.4 swap

I've said this a few times before but I think the most practical engine upgrade for the Sport Trac would be the 5.3L shortblock assembly from Ford Performance. It uses the 5.0L Boss modular block with a forged steel stroker crankshaft to get to 5.3L. You can bolt 2V, 3V or 4V modular heads onto...

    2019 Ranger disappointment...

Even if you are a loyal Ford customer it is highly unlikely that you are going to buy both a Ranger and an F-150 at the same time. If you buy a Ranger you're not likely to buy an F-150 and vice versa. As a previous owner of several Rangers and a gen 2 Sport Trac it's still hard to argue with the...

    2019 Ranger disappointment...

I doubt Ford will ever make any version of the Ranger that would risk taking sales away from the F-150. Because they can charge more for the Bronco I doubt they would care whether they sell a Bronco or an F-150. Not so much with the Ranger.

    4v 4.6 and transmission into '08.

Here's the auction listing with the selling price of $55k. I suppose once you add in the bidder's and buyer's fees, shipping, taxes, etc. it might get close to $80k. Did your friend buy it at the B-J auction in Scottsdale or later...
