Factory sub not working after stereo installed

I own a 2001 Ford sport trac I recently replaced the aftermarket stereo that was in my truck with a newer one different brand. I know my truck has the factory sub and amp that is behind the driver rear seat I don’t think it worked when I bought the vehicle but plugged the audio jacks into the back but am not sure if I needed to get power to the amp and if so what color that wire would be. Any help or advice will help even if there would be a good affordable part for part swap

The amp will have to be powered. Crutchfeild.com. Might be able to help with the proper cables, for the swap.
 
Thanks but I would like to figure out if the sub in there now is working or not prefer not to have to spend that much right now

it needs a 5V turn on, and low power signal for the speakers, you can jump the wiring to test but the radio install kit you bought should have had the right plug.... ALSO it will POP and damage the amp if you use the 12V turn on wire.
 
For the "Factory" amp in the rear compartment... Is the "silver" box the stereo plugs into then goes to the Sub woofer the amp? Or is the "AMP" internal in the 6 Disc factory pioneer unit?
 
External, Needs plug adaptor from the radio....
 
Give me a few more days and I might have some info? I am almost done doing the same thing. If it works I'll relay the setup. Im moving the factory amp and speaker from a 2002 ST-(Factory 6 Disk Pioneer) to a 2005 ST-(Aftermarket Unit). The wiring at the fuse box is in different places, but maybe your 2001 is similar to my 2002? I have a few on line diagrams (They are all different), I'll get together the "best" one for the 2002 for you as well.
 
Did you ever get things resolved? I got really sidetracked on finishing my install, hopefully tomorrow. What kind of info can I help with for your situation? I'm not a real expert like the others, but I think I figured out all the wires and where they are supposed to go. And which ones get "capped" off. If your 2001 is like my 2002, all the wires from the rear "silver box" that hooks to the amp goes to the stereo unit. Some might not be used and one does not go to the stereo and continues over to the fuse box. On the 2002 its in the top left and the other side of the fuse is light brown cant remember the stripe color, (Ill let you know tomorrow if you still need the info). Im guessing its a power wire controlled by the ignition switch. That way the rear amp doesn't stay on all the time draining the battery. After I check that out with my multi meter tomorrow, Ill let you know if that's true of not.

No I haven’t figured it out I took a look at some my fuse box and I found that some fuses are not there and I am not sure what amp fuse I need and which on is to my sub I believe it is the 15 slot

Let me look this afternoon, I have the 2002 and 2005, but they are different? So the 2001 might be different then the 2001? I'll upload the 2001 here when I find it later this afternoon.

I’ll check that out my manual didn’t have anything in it and my Haynes repair manual didn’t have to detailed info about my fuses
 
Im looking for my 2002 manual, I one I found is not right? I installed the rear factory wiring harness, all hooked up ok.... except the one Lt Blu/Purple wire that goes directly to the fuse panel (Cut position top left of my 2002). It looks like that is the HEADLIGHTS? Is the pic in the left look like yours? I'm still looking for the 2002 and your 2001 together. I am including my 2005 manual that I scanned for others with 2005 ST's. It says fuse #13 is for subwoofer, I still need to verify this LT Blue/Purple goes there. But for you and I will keep at it, I also need to get this figured out ASAP, I'll also include the wrong fuse layout as well I think it must be "newer" since it has seat memory, cell and message center stuff I don't think was available in 2002?

I am guessing here.... So one of the other ST wizards will have to chime in in this.... It looks like the power to the rear factory amp needs to be hooked up th (Directly/indirectly) to one of the fuses that goes to the "multi function switch"? My factory Subwoofer wire was hooked to fuse #4? I don't see a dedicated fuse for the woofer. Besides care to not over load the fuse, i am guessing power to the rear factory amp has to be off when key if off to eliminate draining battery?
 
AMP is always constant powered, the trigger wire from the radio turns the amp on for sound.
