I have an 07 S.T. 93,000 miles . With the corona virus thing going around we been staying home . The truck sat in the garage for one whole week without starting it .On the seventh day I did start it and drove it out of the garage . I noticed a small puddle of tranny fluid on the floor . Its going in Tuesday to our neighbor hood garage to see what going on . Never did this before and never sat for a week without running either . So I been starting it up and just going around the block . No more oil on the floor . Never experienced this with any vehicle before . Did the fluid drain down and leak out somewhere ? If it was my tranny cooler wouldn't it do this all the time? I guess I'll find out Tuesday when the raise it up and take a look see.

I just read a similar instance where a guy with a Bentley parked at an airport for over a week and the same thing happened with his vehicle. He has not seen any fluid leak since . One report stated that from sitting so long the oil from the torque converter drained down into the transmission and found a bad gasket or seal .

Hey Brad that sounds like the same thing . It may not be but It MAY be too. Could you share with me how much it cost to fix it and was it at a ford dealer that repaired it? Thanks .
Brad, I wanted to ad something . I watched ford tech Makuloco and he said that 2006 and up used the 6R60 tranny so I bet this is what my problem is . This ford tech is very good to watch . He will show you how to fix many things if you are able . I'm not able to do much LOL.

Possibly the rear seal from sitting, although I think it should take longer than a week. Happened to my son's Mustang a few years ago. My folks go to Florida for the winter so when he was in college we'd store the Mustang in their garage. I took it out once on a nice day and started seeing all kinds of smoke out the back. Took it to the shop, he said they'd seen that before on cars that were stored. His theory was that the weight of the driveshaft turns the rear tranny seal into a pear shape and it leaks a bit until you start driving it and then it gets back to round again.

Thanks Jon . I will be doing a oil change I a few days and maybe I can see where its coming from. Everyday I start it and move it .It appears the leak stopped . Its tranny fluid and on this 07 there is no dip stick . Some dip stick had a better idea . Seems like every vehicle has its own (pain in the rear differential .) I was going to take it to our neighborhood repair shop but for now im staying here because of the virus thing . I had about a cup of oil on the floor at the most .Its thin so it spreads easily . OK man take car ,thanks for your reply .

It could also be a 5R55S or 55w LOL. Im going under it in a few days to change oil then I might know better .

I did the work myself because the local dealer is lame. It had 20-30k on it at the time so it probably would have been free. The part was less than $30, but you have to drop the pan because a clip holds it in. The hardest part is filling it because of the no dipstick setup, plus it has to be running and the converter is right by the dipstick. I used a quart bottle pump and a hose. Anyway mine was obvious once I raised it and saw were it was wet.

As a side note I just replaced the front output shaft seal on the transfer case and that’s a pain. That coupler is held in from the inside, so complete removal and disassembly for a $20 seal. Plus a rear axle seal was leaking which requires axle removal. Hopefully I’m done for awhile.

Hey buddy I hope your done fixing too . At 75 I would not want to take those things on by my self . I appreciate your feed back . In the mean time be very careful with the virus going around . We are staying home . Be safe and have a good summer .

When your driving the vehicle the drip hits the road or gets blown away, when it sits it has time to drip and land on the ground..... probably a seal or the cooler lines. Look around and find it.

Either today or tomorrow I will get under there and find it . Good chance of it being the o' ring seals on the bulkhead connector sleeve . been doing my research lol. thanks Todd

Hey Brad , I changed my oil today and I checked out my tranny and it is the 6R60 trans. I have and the o'ring seals are leaking on the bulkhead connector sleeve . As long as I keep running it every other day its not leaking on the floor . So we have a good neighbor hood garage that can fix it .I talked to them already ,just waiting to take it over there then they can replace the fluid and put a new filter in there too.

Glad you found the problem. I don’t know if you can buy just the o rings, I’d buy the whole part because it may have specific use o rings. Also I’d skip the filter because in reality it’s not a filter, just a screen. Your call.
