07 XLT V8 131800 miles pulled off from stop sign then heard a pop and just revved up while in 4x4 auto. I put it in 4x4 high and was able to drive but hear a clunk when pulling off but fine after that. When stopped and in park it will just roll when I take foot off of brake. Any help is appreciated. t/u

T/u I'm pricing used ones now. 1 place wants # off tag but it looks like they are most likely 6L but I did see 1 7L so I will look when I get home to get correct part. Will look for a rebuild kit also.

Maybe you could pull the drain plug off and look in to see if it is the chain or not
You may or may not be able to look inside

Would a broken chain still allow my 4x4 high to work and my 4x4 auto not work? When I park it just rolls if on any hill after releasing the brake.

It’s been years sense I’ve been in one, but if your front drive is working then you may of broke the input shaft that’s after the chain
Either way, the case has to come out and (hard parts) replaced. Looks like part #150 if I can see the pic correctly, but it’s after the chain

Appreciate your help, looking to get one with as low miles as possible and have my cousin rebuild mine. Most places are just asking for yr, make model and engine. Only 1 place asked for part #7L24-3002-BE and there doesn't seem to be many of them available unless other #'s will work also. Want to do this Saturday morning

It’s not an easy job to do at your house unless you have a press and all the snap ring pliers, lest not forget the gas torch for the bearings

You mean the rebuild? If so my cousin rebuilds tranny's on the side he has all of that stuff. I will get a used 1 with low miles and replace Saturday.

Sorry darn spell check on iPhone. But yes that’s what I mean. I’ve been working on cars for 40plus years and 30 of them a master tech. And working on transmissions is falling into the last art field as most a throwaway or disposables

I not
Longer have my ford tech account
Sense I became disabled and retired I stopped my yearly payment for it
I will see if any of my other online tech accounts still work

P/u transfer case today hope to tear apart tmrw after work. Will update in a few days. I seen a short video of it being done on a 05 without jacking it up but I plan to lift it a few inches to slide under easier...

Probably just a bad motor or fork... Good luck

That’s what happens when you break a rear driveshaft, u joint or the front CV head!!!!!

I bet the rear driveshaft is broken or something inside the t case. Need to put it in the air and spin everything. Could be a rear axle too!!

Front bolts are out about to take out rear bolts on drive shaft rear axles look good but might change carrier bearing while down here and also it would roll if on a hill in park. I will update, glad I have air compressor some bolts are long

Well was in driveway and now raining but all bolts out of rear shaft and everything looks good just have to get it loose from TC. Had to go replace S&K 12mm 12pt slowed everything down. They sure do use every style from mm, hex, inverted hex & 12pt. So much fun to be had...

Well now when I went back out I remember something looking a little different and it was the TC I just got has 4 bolt flat plate going to rear shaft and mine has 6 bolt cupped. Well that takes the air out my sales but I guess I can continue taking it out.
