Hello all,

My name is Jay Hernandez and I live in Oregon. I just recently started to do all the modifications to my Trac as well as started to worry about her miles. She is sitting at about 185k and I plan on swapping the 2wd trans out for a 4wd as well as doing a gasket, timing, and cam maintenance/ upgrades. My question is, have any of you 2nd gen owners successfully compiled a list or have a supplier for said parts or did you just shop around? of course I will be perusing through the threads but just thought I would throw it out there in my intro.

Recent mods I have done are a Truxx 3" lift with 315's and some slight front inner fender well modifications as well as custom fabbed upper control arms from Brandon (forgot his last name and company). Ill post pics as soon as I can. But hopefully now you can see why I am going to start working on the heart and and lungs of this beauty. Even better yet, if there is anyone that has performance parts for these 4.6 3v's, maybe we can bargain?

Don't work too hard

Welcome, I made my own custom arms, pics are in my profile, Are you converting to 4wd?? Its almost cheaper to buy a 4wd truck, Computer programing and all the wiring is not there... its a ton of work. Not as easy as you think.

The 4.6 can get a modified TB, air intake, exhaust, under drive pulleys ( I don't recommend) and computer programmer. That adds a nice kick in the pants, can also supercharge but IMHO its not worth the money.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the input. I forgot to mention that I have a SCT tuner as well as a 3-inch Gibson exhaust. Specifically what I'm looking for is if anyone has done a timing belts *chains and or Cam maintenance or replacement. Doing some short hand research I have found that other 4.6 applications recommend getting the 2007 or six Mustang GT Cam Kit as a mild upgrade. My engine is doing that notorious little ticking but she's at a hundred and eighty plus thousand miles. I'm definitely looking into a supercharger though. My goal is to make this thing a little tugboat.

Ive never been shy against a good challenge. Just creating a parts list for now. Eventually might just go manual 4wd. Or I'm even thinking of getting a factory awd trans from an adrenaline. Just concept for now.
Thanks for the input.

Those seem like some pretty legit parts. I have those same headers but are too tall on the drivers side and can't mount up because of the upper steering shaft. If I needed an exhaust, it would be very tempting to buy though. Thanks for the lead!

None directly fit, you must modify 1 tube on each side.

at that mileage I would look at a rebuild before I FI any engine.... It will not last. The ticking could be exhaust leak, cam followers, or other internal issues. Mild cams are nice but just not worth the HP gains.
