Nope, too wide for the engine bay. The '94 pushrod 5.0L is the last year that will fit. If you can find an explorer donor, with the early 5.0L, is you easiest conversion.

I'm putting an 00 explorer 5.0 in my 01 trac.
It will fit, but 98 is the oddball year that has different wiring and a fuel return. If you have emision testing you will need a 01 pcm that will not work with the 98's wiring. ideally you wnat a 99-01.

As an FYI there is no 302 that wont fit. The pushrod 5.0 and roller 5.0 are the same externally. I am also putting a 00 explorer 5.0 into my 74 bronco.

I have an 05 I was thinking about a V8 swap since this engine dropped a valve, Is there a V8 that would be a fairly easy swap or is there a major bunch of work to swap one into it? This truck is in real good condition otherwise and hate to just scrap it.

There is a special year range you need. it all bolts in, just a few wiring changes and such. Ive seen people do it over a weekend.

Where would I find this information or maybe some contacts for the people you've seen do this over a weekend?

Todd, did member Dan from florida. Ever do a write up on his 5.0L project. I remember he had alot of pics on the old website. Also he gave alot of info on the message board, of the details of the swap. Maybe a search can find it. But the pics maynot be there.
Racer, try a search. It might be about 5yrs ago or more.

I've been told by other people that it hasn't been successfully done and really can't find anything. That is why I joined the forum hoping for a solution/answer.

We use to have another site, called mysporttrac.com. It no longer exists. We tranfered to this site. On the old site there was 2 successful V8 swaps. The one done by Dan Long in florida was maybe the best one, IMO.

My v8 swap got down last week and drove my butt 3.5 hours to upstate ny for vacation. Hoping it gets me back home tomorrow. So far everything seems great. I did get a check engine light about 3 hours in to the drive. Of course I did t bring a scanner. I also used a 4406 transfer case. 47.5” is the driveshaft length center to center of ujoints. $189 on eBay for mine with the conversion joints

Nope and very wierd that this reply in in this thread. I think my Tapatalk is getting wonky. Other day I had posted a jetski question on classic broncos. Lol. Mine is an 01 If this gets posted correctly

ITs been done to completion many times..... Some one that has one was selling it too. The Facebook forums have way more information. Since this sites migration, a lot of that info is hard to find. But there are people on the FB pages doing it or driving it right now.
