I have been looking for a good trac forum for a while now. I'm glad that I found this one. I have a 05 sport trac that I love.

Welcome, Rob. I've had my 2001 Job 2 4x4 Sport Trac since September 2001. It has 214,000 miles on it now. Everything works except that I have a broken wire in a weird spot, so my door chime doesn't work when my keys are left in the ignition switch and the driver's door is open. As you can see from the pics, I haven't done a lot of mods. I have a Westin Safari bar in the front with a 20" Cree 3-watts-per-bulb LED light bar wired to the high beams. On the rear is a Waag Rear Bumper Guard. On the rear bumper guard is a Federal Signal #GH1 red rear fog light and the same with a clear fluted lens as a single backup light. The Sport Trac's OEM backup lights are now amber rear turn signals. The brake/tail lights are just brake/tail lights; not turn signals. The rear bumper guard has soaked up the energy during a 20 mph rear-end crash. It bent a bit, but the OEM bumper was undamaged, so it did its job. The other driver's insurance paid for a new one after the crash. Otherwise, my truck has not been in any crashes.
There are no unattractive added switches on the dashboard. To control the rear fog light, I bought a radio bezel for a 2001 Explorer Sport 4X4 with fog lights. The upper right switch on an Explorer Sport is for a rear wiper, so I removed it and installed the Sport Trac's rear window switch in its place and also swapped the legend plate. The Explorer Sport bezel contained an extra hole below the rear window switch. I also bought an additional OEM Sport Trac fog light switch to install in the extra hole. It's wired in a way so the rear fog light will only come on if the low beam headlights are on and the rear fog light switch is switched on.... That's how rear fog lights are wired on European vehicles. The upper fog light switch controls the rear fog light and the lower one controls the front fog lights.
Up until a couple of months ago, we had a different Sport Trac website. It all moved over to this site and, supposedly, the members' past photos and detailed projects should have been transferred over by now. Those projects have saved me over $8000 in maintenance costs since 2001.
Unfortunately, the Sport Trac was discontinued in 2010 and we've lost a lot of members after they sold their trucks. At one time, we had over 25,000 members. Some good friendships have been struck up in real life between members and some members who no longer have Sport Tracs remain members here for the camaraderie. The ones that are marked as "well-known members" are people who were very active on the old website. They are good resources and about a dozen of us know exactly how the Sport Trac ages and how to keep it in tip-top shape. One thing that I've noticed is some parts for the Sport Trac have gone down in price significantly, while others are only available in salvage yards.
Fortunately, Ford has come to its senses and will start making a midsize, four-door pickup again in 2019. I'm hoping that the website administrators will seize upon the opportunity and make a new website for those of us who will be getting a new Ranger starting next January. Personally, I would LOVE a new website like this one that focuses on the new Ranger.
